Infrared cameras translate the heat signatures of objects into hues with a gradient scale, with bigger temperatures showing as lighter colors, and lower temperatures and moist locations showing up as darker colours.  Also referred to as thermal imaging and thermography, IR know-how captures the light that exists just outdoors the obvious spectrum.
